FINAL Monarch Migration News
The Monarch Butterfly migration has moved into Manitoba, Canada. This years northernmost sighting swas at latitude 50 North. The Monarchs have moved as far east as Nova Scotia where people have seen Monarch Butterflys at longitude 63 East. Of course this year it has been unseasonably cold and has been a cool, wet, summer so far in most of the Monarch Butterflies northern breeding range. We all know that the Monarch population will get larger with each suceeding generation of instars this
summer, but cool temperatures will surely slow the Monarch's development. I can hardly wait to see if the slow start to this year's breeding season will affect the number of monarchs that are seenlater this summer.
